I am seduced by the shiny and new, things that are plastic and artificial in every way. I am seduced by the beauty of an object in its own demise. I choose inexpensive, mass produced materials for their inherent bright candy colors and textures. In my recent sculptures I have chosen to use balloons to investigate what happens when an object has a specific life span and will change over time. My interests lie in using these materials to create bubbly, animated objects, that will undergo a metamorphosis into a pathetic, lifeless, shriveled pile of plastic and synthetic mass.
